The sad tale of the Governess of Alltyferin

Back to the history of the mansion

House and grounds

The mansion and parkland

The immaturity of the planting, suggests this photograph may date to the early 1870s. The greenhouse shown in image 10 can just be seen to the far right of this photograph

Wooden Bridge

Bridge over the River Cothi

Alltyferin and Holy Trinity Church were separated by a river so the Baths built a bridge to allow them to easily walk from their mansion to their church. The date of this photograph is not known but the bridge appears to be in an advanced state of decay. It eventually disappeared in the late 20th century. [Photograph courtesy M. Messent]
