Brondawe
Grid Ref: SN 5212 2600
Brondawy, Brondawe, Llanegwad. North of Ynyswen. The name is variously spelt. ‘Bryndawe, Williams, gent.’ (Bowen Map 1754), ‘Brondewi’ and ‘Bryndewi’ (Colby Map 1831), and Bryndawe on modern O.S. maps.
From the early 18th century it was home of the Williams family. The
first to settle there was Thomas Williams (d. pre-1734) younger son of
Thomas Williams of Wernddu, a cadet of the Williams family of Hafodwen
near Carmarthen, descended from Elystan Glodrudd. It was owned by his
descendants until 1862 and probably later.
In later times it was owned by the James family, the descendants of
which now farm Tyllwyd, Felingwm (1999)
