Around Carmarthenshire

Laugharne

Castle   The Boathouse   Browns Hotel   Castle Hotel    New Three Mariners   Foreshore

The village is world-famous mainly through of it's Dylan Thomas connections.

It's a very pretty place with both coastal and woodland walks. There's a regular bus service to Carmarthen, which is the nearest large town. The many pubs give the visitor plenty of choice and there are a couple of restaurants and a fish & chip shop.

The tourist will find plenty of souvenirs at the well-stocked gift shop in the square.

A market/car boot sale is held on Wednesdays in the car park below the castle during Spring and Summer. You can buy anything from plants to pebbles which are hand-painted with various scenes, and books to bric-a-brac.

There's plenty of woodland and seashore walks to explore, many of which have views over the estuary. For the less energetic the castle is a popular attraction..

In recent years the actor Neil Morrissey has purchased property in the area and is a regular visitor.

Parking is a problem in season. Toilets can be found between the car park and castle entrance.
