Around Carmarthenshire
Llanelli
The town has seen many changes over the years – the heavy industry has long gone and the town has moved on. A good shopping centre and market make this a place to visit and a bonus is its close proximity to the Millennium Coastal Path which provides easy walking and cycling along the coast for many miles. The beaches here are extensive at low tide. Llanelly House, near the parish church, is awaiting restoration and is a future tourist “must”.

Parc Howard
Parc Howard Museum and Art Gallery and its parkland setting are not to be missed. There are play areas for children and walks along the leafy paths.are many buildings of architectural interest including the Town Hall, public houses, chapels, churches, banks, a Victorian Arcade and the Public Library. Revamped in the late 19th century the railway station was built to a Brunel design.
Llanelli – Birth of a Town, by local authors William and Benita Rees is available on CDRom, and tells the story of the town.
Over 100 years ago John Innes wrote Old Llanelly, long out of print.
Both CdRoms are available from Meiros Publications.
