Around Carmarthenshire

Llansteffan

Llanstephan

Llansteffan looking across the river to Ferryside

Only a few miles from Carmarthen Llansteffan is very popular, although the village has few shops. The is a regular bus service to Carmarthen.

On fine days and evenings the car park is packed. The beach is great for the kids and being sandy and flat offers easy walking. Florries, a fish & chip bar in the car park is well worth a visit. Souvenirs and snacks are available from the nearby gift shop. Toilet facilities available in the car park.

Ferryside is just across the estuary and at low tide one is tempted to paddle over. However do not be tempted as the tide comes in quickly and it's a long walk back by road to your car.

Regular buses to Carmarthen provide easy access.

Llansteffan Castle is worth visiting, although the climb to the top of the hill is not easy and you will need to be fit to do it. The ruins and views make it all worthwhile.
