Around Carmarthenshire

Millennium Coastal Path, Llanelli

In the summer 2000, Llanelli took centre stage in the nation’s celebration of the new Millennium. The town's coastline, blighted by unsightly Victorian steel mills and tinplate works, was been transformed.

Occupying 22km of coastline on the Burry Estuary and overlooking the Gower peninsula, the Millennium Coastal Path features many attractions linked together by a continuous traffic free cycle/footpath.

The new Visitor centre has a restaurant and tourist information facilities.

You can hire a cycle or take the road-train to nearby Sandy Water Park and have refreshments at the Sandpiper which overlooks a lake on which wildlife abounds.

Easy walking and cycling for miles along the coast. Cycle hire in season.

The beach is not great but when the tide is out there’s plenty of sand.

Parking is expensive and buses from Llanelli pass close by.
