Llanegwad's Churches
Llanegwad Llanfynydd St Johns Holy Trinity Vicar
John Brunker wrote about Llanegwad church and his work is considered by many to be the definitive work on the parish.
The old Llanegwad churchyard is no longer used for burials. A new site is in use nearby. The tower is coming away from the rest of the building and extensive work is needed to remedy the situation.
Llanegwad Parish church was closed after the service on July 11th 2005 due to a deterioration of the fabric of the building. See Church closes its doors
Few historical details have emerged about Llanfynydd church.
This small church was built in the late 19th century, but details are sparse. The first service was held in St Johns in 1896 and centenary celebrations recorded the event in 1996.
With its connections to the Bath family of Alltyferin the church is fairly well documented. Conservation work is in hand to restore the unique wall paintings.
