Grid Ref: -fawr SN 5688 2804 -fach SN 5665 2833
Two farms Cwm ban-fawr and -fach are found about 1½ miles north-east of the village.
They are the largest farms in the parish, occupying practically the whole hamlet of Cwmban.
In the 16th century it was the home of Thomas Richard Rhydderch of ‘Cwmbay (sic.) in Llanfynydd’, who married Beatrix daughter of Griffith Lloyd of Forest Brechfa (descended from Tewdwr) by a daughter of Gwilym Prees Philip David of Llwyn Howel.
In 1714-15 John Lloyd late of Cwmban but then of London, gent., sold properties in that vicinity. The family of Phillip Francis of Cwmban were among the early Methodists in that area.
