Three miles north-west of Llanegwad lies Llwyn Gwyn, the home of Anthony Jones a younger son of David Jones of Llwynffortun (also called Llwynfortune). He married Margaret daughter and co-heiress of Thomas Woodford (d. 1648) of Castle Pigin, Abergwili (Carmarthenshire).
He had two sons, David Jones of Llwyngwyn (will proved in 1716), and Anthony Jones (b. 1688) a clergyman who became Vicar of Llanegwad. The vicar married Jane, daughter and heiress of John Griffiths of Castell Pigin. He was buried on 2 January 1744-5, leaving a son Richard Jones, High Sheriff in 1751, who died unmarried, and a daughter Jane the ultimate heiress who married but died without issue in 1786.
At its most prosperous the Llwyngwyn estate consisted of the capital messuage of Llwyngwyn, the messuage called Penllwyngwyn and Cwm y Carw, and Llwyngwyn Mill, in Llanegwad parish, the capital messuage called Hendre Hedog (which the Revd. Anthony Jones bought from the Duke of Bolton), a water corn mill, messuages called Hendre’r Ysgub, Capel Bach, Llether Winkey, Allt Fyrddin, a smith’s shop and land called Dalben Havard., and eight other messuages and lands, all in Abergwili parish.
In 1839 Llwyngwyn (164) acres was owned by John Dillwyn Llewellin, Esq., of Glamorgan.
