Renovation was carried out on this property between November 2006 and June 2007. Parts of the farmhouse date back to the 17th century but over the years many changes have taken place, some to the detriment of the building's fabric.

The main building comprises three stories, and there is also a single storey barn which was extended and renovated to provide garage space with an office/study area above.

The interiors of the buildings was stripped out and made ready for an injected DPC and complete timber treatment by specialised contractors.

The roof was removed and replaced, keeping as much of the original timbers as possible. New hardwood double glazed sash windows replaced the old mix of sash and modern casements.

A new large slate-roofed lounge/conservatory links the house to the barn. The roof trusses to the new conservatory are oak and all fittings are of  high quality.

Lletty Gariad, Llandeilo (Fawr)

On the south banks of the Towy, opposite the old Dynevor Castle, marked as ‘Lovelodge’ on Kitchin’s Map 1754. The first family there was that of Phillips and the ancestry of William Philip who lived at ‘Lletty Kariad’ in 1609 was recorded by Dwnn. Blome includes Thomas Philips, gent., of Loves Lodge, in his list of Nobility and Gentry in 1673. The last of the family there was Charles Phillips (also seated at Bremenda) whose daughter Margaret Elizabeth in 1751 married Richard Vaughan of Golden Grove and brought Lletty Gariad to that family, from whom it passed to Lord Cawdor in 1804. John Stedman of Dolygaer, Brecon, who married Blanche, widow of William Phillips of Llettygariad, was High Sheriff of Carmarthen in 1624; Richard Phillips of Llettygariad was High Sheriff in 1709.

In 1779 ‘the capital messuage and demesne lands called Llettigariad or Lovelodge’ (127 acres) was listed in a Golden Grove terrier. It was let to Francis Beale before 1771, and in 1791 the tenant was Thomas Davies one of the founders of the Calvinistic Methodist Chapel at Llandeilo.

I visited Llettygariad in 1979, which had been bought from the Cawdor estate by Mr W. D. Doey, F.R.C.S., who had completely modernised the interior, and made some external alterations, such as the removal of the external flight of stairs at the back of the house, leading to a doorway giving access to the upper floor, the door having been replaced by a window, and the house has been re-christened Llys Cariad. The farmlands and outbuildings have been let to a farmer.

A short distance to the south-west are farms of Llety Glyd, and Lletty Miere.
