On Colby's Map 1831, Maes Efan-fawr and -fach are marked two miles north-east of the village.

It was the home, for a brief period, of a minor gentry family, descended from Elystan Glodrudd.

William David of Maes Ievan left two children - David William of Maes Ievan who married Joyce daughter of Lewis ap John ap David of Llanfynydd; and Mary who married Thomas ap Lewis, brother of the said Joyce.

Note When this piece appeared in Francis Jones' Historic Carmarthenshire Homes and their Families in 1997 it gave  -fawr as in use, and -fach a ruin. This referred to the time the piece was written, a couple of decades earlier.
