Carmarthen Quay 1938

Once a thriving port time has transformed Carmarthen's Quay. Boats no longer tie up alongside and river traffic has long since ceased.
The photograph above shows the coaster Merthyr alongside the cornflower warehouses of J. B. Arthur. Vessels carrying flour from Bristol were the last to use the quay on a commercial basis, and the trade ended in 1938.
